Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program

The Prince’s Trust Australia is a not for profit established to represent the charitable endeavours of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

One of the Trust's initiatives is the Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program (PLYOB). A 12 to 18 month initiative designed in partnership with RMIT University, the PLYOB assists 20 - 25 transitioning defence personnel to start or scale their own small business each year.

Guided by an Advisory Council Chaired by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of NSW, participants graduate with a Certificate IV in New Small Business and receive 12 months of tailored mentoring support.

This year’s Summit will focus on the ever-important strategic position of Northern Australia, its role in the wider Indo-Pacific region, and its significance to Australia’s security. Alongside this, the conference will cover a range of topics considering ADF Capabilities in the North, investment in infrastructure projects, Defence as a driver for local economic growth, and the challenges of developing and sustaining a sufficiently skilled workforce to support Defence operations.

The Submarine Institute of Australia Conference in 2025, the 20th for the SIA, will be held in Perth WA in partnership with Defence West and Business Events Perth.

The Townsville Defence Forum will be a localised policy-driven forum.
