On Thursday 8 September, Team SABRE (Soldier Augmentations & Battlefield Robotic Enablers) welcomed the Australian Defence Industry to their Industry Day event at Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia’s Botany office. Contributors and presenters from Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia (SEDA), Nova Systems ANZ, BAE Systems Australia and Safran Electronics & Defense all supported the event to interact with over 150 Defence Industry participants in person and online.

Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia CEO, Patrice Provost, said the Industry Day was a great introduction for industry to meet and engage with Team SABRE in an informative space with presentations and demonstrations.

“The combination of Safran, Nova Systems ANZ and BAE Systems Australia gives Team SABRE unrivalled experience to deliver the Australian Army’s Integrated Soldier System program. Team SABRE looks forward to further engaging with industry,” Mr Provost said.

Presentations on the day showed the Request for Tender (RFT) process, the nature of the contract, how Nova Systems ANZ will be the leading the Agnostic supplier selection process, as well as the ongoing systems development through SEDA’s Battle Lab approach and BAE Systems Australia’s Red Ochre Labs located in Victoria.

Industry participants were introduced to the Land 125 Capability Roadmap, which highlighted Integrated Soldier Systems (ISS) and Robotic Autonomous Platforms (RAP), before leading into the Australian Supply Chain presentation, showing the Market Scanning Analysis and subcontractor engagement requirements.

Team SABRE noted that the Prime Systems Integration component would achieve exceptional Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and is looking to Australian industry to maintain this high level of sovereignty through the sub systems supply and support.

Safran Electronics & Defense presented on their experience in programs across Europe, which include FELIN, Centurion, Achille and Furious, before discussing how Australian Industry can be part of European programs and how best to leverage opportunities from Land 125 Phase 4 to programs abroad by working within the global Safran supply chain.

After the presentations, attendees engaged with demonstrations of various sample equipment and configurations while facilitating discussions and workshops between key Team SABRE members and Industry.

With over 70 different companies from small to medium enterprises, government and university representatives in attendance, the day was a huge success, with Team SABRE now looking forward to continuing the engagement at LAND FORCES International Land Defence Exposition in Brisbane from 4-6 October.

You can find SEDA at booth #2P16 with a section of the booth dedicated to the Team SABRE approach, with Nova Systems ANZ in attendance and ready to discuss the agnostic supply chain selection process. BAE Systems Australia is located just a short distance away from SEDA at booth #2T8.
