The Defence Teaming Centre (DTC) is pleased to announce the nine finalists for the 2022 DTC Defence Industry Awards.

This year over 30 nominations were submitted, with the judging panel finding it very difficult to choose nine finalists across the three categories.

Audra McCarthy, CEO of the Defence Teaming Centre, said the calibre of applications this year shows the resilient and innovative nature of companies who have chosen to work in defence industry.

“Congratulations to all finalists who have been recognised for their significant contribution to the development of our defence industry,” Mrs McCarthy said.

“Our sector has undergone a lot of changes since the pandemic, and I know a lot of companies were impacted quite hard by the AUKUS announcement, and the cancellation of multiple multi-million- dollar projects. Despite these road blocks these companies continue to deliver exceptional Australian made products within short time frames as required by Defence.

“What makes these companies stand out, is their ability to think outside of the box. We have seen companies who have completed work for Defence, only to have the project cancelled. Instead of writing off the loss, these companies think of innovative ways to repurpose their product - so it is suitable for other sectors, they source international defence projects to sell their product onto, or they make their product suitable for the mainstream client.

“It is this ability to be resilient, to be innovative and the willingness to collaborate with other companies that make the defence sector one of more rewarding sectors to work in.

“I look forward to celebrating everyone’s achievements at our annual gala next month and toasting the winners on their success.”

Proudly supported by the University of South Australia, who is the principal partner for the 2022 Defence Industry Dinner & Awards Ceremony, the awards night is one of glitter and glam that celebrates the achievements of Australia’s defence industry.

Regarded as the DTC’s most prestigious event of the year the 2022 gala is set to supersede last years sell out event. With a silent auction, wine and gin wall, Dr Brendan Nelson AO, president of Boeing Australia locked in as the keynote speaker, live music and the OPK9 pups on the VIP list, this is one night which will have guests smiling from start to finish.

“Last year we raised $35k for the OPK9 program, which assisted them in placing a facility dog in the Jamie Larcombe Centre,” Mrs McCarthy said.

“I have heard that Quattro (the facility dog), has settled into his new home and his enjoying his new job meeting veterans and their families.

“This year we hope to raise $45k which will pay for the training of one of the OPK9 pups.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors for the 2022 Defence Industry Dinner & Awards Ceremony. Your commitment to supporting a not-for-profit organisation that supports the growth and development of Australia's defence industry is very much appreciated.”
