Turkey to order F-35 fighter jets

The Turkish undersecretary for defense has announced the country’s intention to order two F-35 fighter jets as part of a delayed order expected to be consummated in 2016.

It will be the first order of Turkey's pre-announced plan to purchase 100 F-35 jets for $16 billion.

In a statement, Turkey said that its commitment to the F-35 JSF program is as strong as ever and “in this context, Turkey continues her forecast of the acquisition of 100 F-35A aircraft as planned and declared previously.”
