Strategic advantage is key to success for our national defence industry objectives. This involves employing innovation, rapid capability development, and speed to market to achieve a resilient and competitive defence industry.

Systematiq’s approach to leveraging strategic advantage for our clients has led to improvements in efficiency and effectiveness in supporting our client projects. By focusing on the right mix of people, project management expertise, and productivity-enhancing technologies, Systematiq has established a unique position that helps their clients navigate complex challenges and achieve their goals.

Attracting and Retaining the Right People

With a 13-year track record, Systematiq excels in attracting and retaining skilled practitioners. Their high retention rates and culture of continuous learning foster workplace satisfaction, leading to better client outcomes.

Systematiq employs a diverse team of professionals from various backgrounds, including former CASG and Defence Force personnel, workplace trainers, and experts from a range of industries. This diverse expertise allows Systematiq to comprehensively understand defence acquisition and sustainment processes while incorporating best practice methodologies from other sectors.

Providing flexibility and work-life balance ensures they have higher than average participation from women across the business, with 50% of the management being female. Through employee surveys, Systematiq has determined that by providing a flexible workplace, their people are motivated and empowered to drive high levels of productivity and better results for their clients.

Systematiq also offers professional development and cross-functional experience to support career growth and retain valuable employees.

Driving Excellence in Project Management

Systematiq helps clients manage complex projects in Land, Sea, and Air domains. Their expertise in project management and deep understanding of CASG procurement ensures successful outcomes by anticipating and solving problems.

Ben Burrows, Systematiq’s Head of Projects and Capability, and ex-CASG Program Director, noted that with the new focus on project milestones and financial KPIs, projects will be more closely scrutinized. “Projects can be difficult to manage due to the complexities between government project offices and suppliers unfamiliar with working with the Commonwealth,” he said.

Systematiq provides a rigorous PMO approach using industry-standard systems and tools to ensure quality, accuracy, and clarity through reporting dashboards, project health checks, and strong stakeholder management.

One recent example was their support to JFD Global for their recent five-year contract extension worth $100 million, as the Category Integrator for Support Services to the ADF for the delivery of operating, maintenance, supply, and training services for the ADF’s dive equipment, recompression chambers and support equipment.

Systematiq’s Systems Engineering team developed technical documents for the submission, offering recommendations based on their ASDEFCON expertise. Their Tender Management team ensured the project stayed on track with deadlines, tracking, and mobilizing a team both onsite and remotely.

Burrows commented on the value of reducing risk to their clients: “Having resources with deep knowledge of ASDEFCON meant we were able to provide certainty and peace of mind to our client that they would meet the Commonwealth’s requirements in order to secure this contract.”

Achieving Productivity Advantage

Systematiq has been driving productivity efficiencies across its business over the last couple of years to deliver better outcomes not only for their bid and tender clients, but right through the project lifecycle phases, including introduction to service, sustainment, and training solutions.

"Our commitment to leveraging AI and productivity improvements through technology has not only enhanced our operational capabilities but also allowed us to provide unprecedented value to our clients," stated Brydon Johnson, Systematiq’s Managing Director.

Systematiq are using AI extensively in their Sales and Marketing division to analyse the defence market and customer behaviour, manage their sales and growth pipelines, and create informative content.

Sascha Sinclair, Systematiq’s Head of Sales and Marketing, emphasized the advantages: “We’re using AI extensively in our Sales and Marketing division to better understand our clients’ needs, providing valuable information that helps them make more informed purchasing decisions.”

Our Project Management team has integrated productivity improvements into task tracking and health dashboards, enabling real-time monitoring to keep projects on schedule and within budget while identifying and mitigating potential issues early.

Burrows states: “AI really helps our business customize its services, speeds up project delivery, and improves business growth efficiently. That flows down to our clients which is ultimately our goal.”

Systematiq has established a competitive edge by focusing on these three key areas. These strategic advantages have enabled Systematiq to deliver exceptional results for their clients, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and successful project outcomes across the defence industry.
