Opentec is now offering the RPT 12-M Combat Rugged Tablet, delivering thick client capability in a lightweight, ‘thin’ format.

The Opentec RPT 12-M was created to enable military and emergency services vehicle designers, as well as ground, air and sea operational groups, the ability to have a large format touch LCD that could operate as a stand-alone computer or a thick client in a networked environment.

Military vehicle-borne computer systems have often been restricted to touchscreen connected to a centralised LAN server, or a thin client/server architecture.

The Core 2 Duo-equipped RPT 12 delivers notebook processing capability and a combat-hardened 12.1” touchscreen that can be dismounted or remounted in seconds, via a Combat Rugged vehicle docking system.

The RPT 12-M weighs in at 2.5kg and is 32cm by 26cm.

It has an IP55-rated Magnesium Alloy chassis, MIL-STD 461E ultra-low emission electronics, large HDD or SSD capacity, Hi-Brite LCDs (500NIT output or higher), ULTRA ‘ultra toughened’ touch overlays, heated CPUs and HDDs (for sub-zero operations), and 30G impact rating.

The product is suitable as a rugged stand-alone computer+communications platform, as well as in vehicle applications where distributed processing is required to enhance system redundancy and support dismounted user applications.

The optional MIL-STD 461E ultra-low emission electronics pack makes the RPT 12-M suitable for EW applications.
