In a ceremony in Exmouth, Western Australia, representatives of Raytheon Australia and the Department of Defence marked the final transition of responsibility for the company to provide operations, maintenance and support services for the Naval Communications Station Harold E. Holt.
Contract phase-in activities at the facility have been ongoing since the company first signed its contract with the DMO's Electronic Systems Division in June this year.
The role of the Naval Communications Station Harold E. Holt is to provide Very Low Frequency (VLF) communications to Australian and United States submarines.
The Managing Director of Raytheon Australia, Michael Ward, welcomed the addition of the contract to the Raytheon Australia portfolio saying that a strong pedigree in site operations management and naval communications positioned the company well to lead support of the Very Low Frequency Communications System into the next phase of its operational life.
Subject to satisfactory performance, the initial contract spans six years with an opportunity for contract extensions.
