Production Parts has won work to supply rudder pedal kits for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet under a one-year contract.

Melbourne-based Production Parts Pty Ltd won the competition over several international suppliers, which should place them in a sound position to compete for more opportunities in the future.

The contract provides Production Parts with options for continued work on future orders that Boeing may receive from the US Navy or international customers.

"This contract not only demonstrates the global competitiveness of Australian companies, but also is a testament to the success of the Australian Government's Office of Australian Industry Capability program," Peter Nicholls, managing director of Production Parts, said.

Production Parts was originally identified as a potential Boeing supplier through the OAIC.

Boeing established the OAIC in 2007 in coordination with Australia's Defence Materiel Organisation to help qualified Australian defence suppliers enter Boeing's global supply chain.

The OAIC works with these primarily small-to-medium enterprises to identify bid opportunities and to provide them with aerospace-focused training and mentoring.

The Australian Financial Review also revealed last week that the Super Hornets will be delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, saving the government $242 million as part of the $5 billion package.
