Embraer has signed an agreement with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) to examine the possibility of creating an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) variant of the C-390 Millennium.

"The studies to adapt the C-390 Millennium aircraft to ISR missions have evolved in a structured way, analyzing the aircraft's capability to evolve in order to meet the current and future needs of the Brazilian Air Force, especially in relation to Maritime Patrol," said the Commander of the Brazilian Air Force, Lieutenant-Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno.

The studies come as another NATO member, Slovakia, selects the C-390 Millennium with the signing of a letter of intent between that country's Ministry of Defense and Brazil's Ministry of Defense on 10 December.

“The C-390 is currently the best aircraft in its category due to its cost efficiency, versatility and reliability, being able to perform the most demanding missions anytime, anywhere. We are confident that the C-390 is the most suitable aircraft to meet the needs of the Slovak Air Force,” said the President & CEO of Embraer Defense and Security, Bosco da Costa Junior.

The C-390 is already in operation with Portugal and Hungary and has been ordered by the Netherlands, Austria and Czech Republic. It has also been selected by Sweden and South Korea.
