L-3 Security & Detection Systems has announced that its eXaminer SX explosives detection system (EDS) has passed the European Union Commission Regulation Standard 3 for EDS under the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Common Evaluation Process (CEP) of Security Equipment.
The system was successfully validated by the Screening and Detection Technology Unit of the German Federal Police in Lübeck.
Built on the proven eXaminer 3DX CT technology platform, the certified eXaminer SX meets the latest rigorous standards for explosives detection within a lighter, smaller-framed system.
The SX automatically clears non-threat bags for flight, resulting in fewer bags being sent to costly secondary search areas.
With its 3-D Continuous Flow CT technology, the SX generates high-resolution 3-D colour images in real time, including 360-degree rotational views of entire bags, as well as individual threat objects.
Using advanced 3-D threat assessment tools, operators can quickly and confidently clear bags for flight or designate bags for search.
Over 1,000 eXaminer systems have been deployed at airports worldwide and are supported by L-3’s service organisation.
