Tasmanian defence supplier CBG Systems has secured a contract for the manufacture and supply of Moonraker Antenna Systems for a major Italian Navy (Marina Militare) fleet renewal program.

“[This] paves the way for future Australian and international naval projects”

The Italian Naval Law Program is a multi-year procurement to deliver six (with an option for an additional four) multi-role combat patrol vessels (Pattugliatori PPA), one Logistic Support Ship (LSS), one Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and two multi-role high speed vessels. The program is to be delivered by Fincantieri and Selex, a unit of Finmeccanica.

Fincantieri has of course been down selected for the Future Frigate program under Project Sea 5000 with its FREMM design, which is already in service with the Marina Militare.

Moonraker Antennas Systems are currently in operation in several naval platforms worldwide including the Australian Canberra class LHDs.

“Securing the supply of Moonraker Antenna Systems to the Italian Naval Law Program is a testament to CBG Systems’ advanced manufacturing capabilities and paves the way for future Australian and international naval projects,” managing director Javier Herbon said.
