Local member for the Victorian state electorate Bayswater, Heidi Victoria, visited Rosebank Engineering’s manufacturing facility at Bayswater last month with the Victorian Minister for Manufacturing, Exports and Trade, Richard Dalla-Riva.

“Today’s visit by the Minister is a great opportunity to demonstrate the importance of local manufacturing, both in terms of innovation and critically, employment, for the people of the local area,” Ms Victoria said.

“The Minister and I have also had the opportunity to meet with Rosebank’s workers and better understand the company’s capabilities, including an opportunity to tour its recent expansion and to inspect the impressive facilities."

“Rosebank Engineering is a key participant in Victoria’s defence industry which employs over 8,000 people, generates around $2 billion in defence business per annum and is a priority sector for the Victorian Coalition Government,” Mr Dalla-Riva said.

Rosebank Engineering Pty. Ltd. commenced operations in 1977 as a privately owned company specialising in component engineering, manufacture, repair and overhaul services for the defence and aerospace sector.

It has been awarded contracts to manufacture components for actuator systems and the landing gear for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Rosebank is also one of two Australian companies approved for work on the Lockheed QCS-001– JSF which includes electroplating, painting and non-destructive testing.

Recent achievements include winning a three year contract with the Royal Malaysian Air Force to provide aircraft component repair and forming a joint venture company – VyoneeshRosebank Technologies – to expand and support the Indian Government’s domestic capability in relation to India’s defence and aerospace sector.

Rosebank recently acquired the aerospace component Maintenance Repair and Overhaul part of Honeywell Australia and will continue to operate the Airport West facility as a Honeywell Authorised Service Centre.

Mr Dalla-Riva said the Coalition Government was committed to local manufacturing and to growing the state’s defence manufacturing capabilities.

“We have been pleased to assist Rosebank through our export programs and overseas business offices and by supporting its participation in the recent trade mission to India led by Minister Asher,” Mr Dalla-Riva said.

Ms Victoria said Rosebank played an important role in the local economy.

“It is a significant local employer that creates downstream benefits for other local businesses,” Ms Victoria said.

“It is therefore very encouraging to see the company going from strength to strength, winning new export business and further expanding its operations."
