An exportable version of the ROVER 5 (Remotely Operated Video-Enhanced Receiver) two-way full-motion video transceiver, dubbed ROVER 5i, is being marketed by L-3 Communications, Communications Systems - West (L-3 CSW).

The new version is supplied with a different standard of encryption (AES 256) to that normally used with the baseline ROVER 5 video transceiver terminal (Type 1), around 1,000 of which have been ordered by US forces, chiefly the US Air Force.

Meanwhile, Harris RF Communications is working to add new digital downlinks to its handheld software-defined 7800T Situational Awareness Video Receiver (SAVR) systems.

The systems are designed to be used by dismounted troops at the lowest command echelons for viewing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance video feeds.
