Integra Packaging has packaged a 94,500kg piece of equipment in preparation for shipping from a manufacturing facility in NSW to a mining site in Siberia.

Excavation machinery designer and manufacturer Bucyrus tasked Integra with keeping the 30MB3 continuous miner dry and well protected during transit by sea and rail.

Integra used a shrink film product called Intercept Technology, which has anti-corrosive and waterproofing properties as well as desiccant to avoid moisture.

The Intercept shrink film included zippered access points for handling and customs inspection.

Integra packaged six of the heaviest component sections, weighing between 4,100 and 39,000kg.

The total shipment of the machine, spares and ancillary equipment weighed more than 116,000kg.

Integra also supplied three specially designed and engineered metal bases to suit both the sea voyage and the rail specifications for Russia.

Following the machine's two-month sea and rail transit time, Bucyrus Technical Support Engineers travelled to Siberia to re-assemble the miner on-site.
