Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare announced recently that the Federal Government has committed up to $89,000 to South Melbourne company C4i to boost the skills of their workforce.
C4i have supplied the Department of Defence with communications and networking equipment for the past decade.
“This funding will go towards the training of qualified technical and professional staff here at C4i,” Mr Clare said.
“This training will boost the skills of more than 38 workers in critical areas like systems engineering and advanced software management.”
Joining the Minister was the
Member for Melbourne Ports, Michael Danby, who
welcomed the announcement saying that this was part of the Federal Government’s plan to develop the Australian defence industry.“We’re really proud of C4i and the terrific work they’re doing here in South Melbourne,” Mr Danby said.
“This funding will increase the skills of workers and the Australian defence industry.”
The funding is part of $14 million in skills funding for the Defence industry announced by Minister Clare in August under the Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry program.
Since 2005 the program has funded more than 24,000 training places, including more than 2,200 apprentices.
“Over the next decade we will invest $138 million to boost skills and improve training in the Defence industry,” Mr Clare said.
