Elisra reveals its portable Man-Pack COMINT Direction Finding system for use by ground forces, at the Australian International Airshow. The extensively tested system provides most reliable COMINT DF portability to the battlefield.
Carried by a single soldier, the high-performance, high-accuracy system enables intelligence gathering by ground forces, as well as precise Direction Finding on a range of frequencies from 25-3000 MHz. The compact, lightweight NEWS Portable detects, locates and monitors signals of interest from specific locations. With this on-the-move capability, soldiers can locate emitters and adjust their route according to the signal's source.
Uniquely flexible, the NEWS Portable can be configured in two modes, based on the size and type of antenna – either a portable tripod-mounted or a small directional antenna. The selection of the antenna can be made in real time according to the requirements of the mission. The system has a variety of uses, including information gathering for the protection of tactical forces on missions, as part of a broader COMINT DF capability, and as a tool for the enhancement of Situational Awareness. In addition, the system integrates with and supports existing EW and Command and Control systems.
Rapidly deployed and easily transported by single soldiers, the ready-for-shipment, low-energy system can operate in the field for several hours in a variety of environmental conditions.
