Victorian company Keath Excavations has used Donaldson Australasia's PowerCore Air Cleaner units to protect its bulldozer engines while working in bushfire-affected environments.

The PowerCore technology, designed to provide air filtration for industrial machinery, was fitted to a bulldozer to keep the engine free of dust and smoke while building firebreaks and retainers.

Keath Excavations reported that the unit achieved 150 hours in the field.

PowerCore has a compact, metal-free, cartridge-style design that traps contaminants inside its structure for cleaning and easier servicing.

The product uses Donaldson's RadialSeal technology.

Donaldson says PowerCore provides higher efficiency than average conventional air filters, improved engine protection and contaminant encapsulation, and flexibility in filter shape and intake systems design and application.

It also reduces the amount of filter space and the size of the air cleaner.

PowerCore filter elements have a patented fluting technology that provides maximum filter efficiency with contaminant holding capacity greater than that of traditional cellulose filter elements.

PowerCore filters are also available with Donaldson's patented nanofibre Ultra-Web technology which provides greater performance and protection.

The performance abilities of the filter media are augmented by the design of the PowerCore unit itself which has an inbuilt pre-cleaning section that removes up to 98.9 per cent of heavy contaminant before it hits the filter element.

PowerCore assemblies are designed with the idea that most new machinery has less available space under the engine cowling or hood than older equipment.

By combining compact sizing with multiple options for mounting the unit horizontally or vertically, the PowerCore unit becomes a simple retrofit solution for equipment that needs to be in peak performance over extended periods.

A range of sizes are available to suit various on and off-highway applications and airflow requirements.
