Australia has deferred the acquisition of two C-130J tactical transport aircraft for two years "to better align with other capability requirements".

The deferral was disclosed in an update to the 2009-13 Defence Capability Plan released online on 26 February.

Final approval for the two C-130Js, which would bring the Royal Australian Air Force's fleet of the type up to 14, is now expected between 2013 and 2015, with initial operating capability moving from 2013-15 to 2015-17.
