Cirrus has been awarded a contract to supply a Generic COMCEN (Communications Centre) Simulator (GCS) to the Defence Force School of Signals Maritime Communications Information Systems Wing (DFSS MCISW) at HMAS Cerberus. The announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Cirrus' founding in 1996.

Managing director Peter Freed said he was pleased that “Cirrus's strength in complex simulation system design has again been recognised, and that the technology, IP and engineering capability resident in Australia's high technology SME sector is highlighted in this way”.

The award follows the successful recent release of version 4.5 of the Air Combat Officer Training System (ACOTS) by Cirrus.

Within the project, contracted under the auspices of Navy Minor Project 1932, Cirrus' Simulation Training Network (STN) technology will be adapted to provide training in the operation of a modern COMCEN, within a scenario based simulation.
