Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare has announced a new measure to support Australian defence companies break into new markets.
Australian companies that have demonstrated the ability to deliver quality products to high standards to the Australian Defence Force will now be recognised with an official Letter of Recognised Supply.
Mr Clare said companies could use the letter when bidding for new work, particularly with non-Defence companies.
“This is a demonstration that the Australian Defence Organisation has confidence in the supplier which can be a powerful tool for companies bidding for other work,” Mr Clare said.
“It means that companies can promote their products and services to both local and international markets with the benefit of recognition from their Defence customer.”
Companies that have supplied products or services to Defence in the past three years will be able to apply for a letter that provides details including the dates of supply and the nature of use within Defence.
The Letter of Recognised Supply Scheme replaces the Defence Recognised Supplier Scheme.
The new scheme has been developed based on consultation with industry associations including the Australian Industry Defence Network and the Australian Industry Group Defence Council.
Companies with current acknowledgement through the Defence Recognised Supplier Scheme are able to continue using their existing acknowledgement until their Deed expires.
