The Australian Institute of Export has honoured CEA Technologies president David Gaul with its Australian Hero Export Award.

He will join five others on 30 April to receive the award from Governor-General Quentin Bryce.

Mr Gaul was the first president of an ACT exporters club, which is now the ACT Exporters Network, an affiliate of the Canberra Business Council which nominated him for the award.

Last year CEA Technologies began adding a $20-million scientific research facility to its headquarters in the Canberra suburb of Fyshwick.

It is now putting in production units for its CEA-FAR phased array radar systems destined for the Anzac Ship anti-missile defence upgrade.

Mr Gaul said the company was working with US investor Northrop Grumman on activities that could lead to significant export orders in the long term.
