The remaining four F/A-18 F Super Hornets (Rhino’s) ordered by the Australian Government, have been delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force and presented at a ceremony at Amberley Air Force Base.

The ceremony got underway after the four new aircraft were met by 16 other Rhino’s and flew in formation down the south-east coast of Queensland.

Minister for Defence Materiel, Jason Clare was hand to see the arrival and said that the Super Hornet was the future of the Australian Air Force until the arrival of the JSF later this decade.

“It is a big day for all involved in this project,” Clare said.

“The acquisition of this project offers value for money and what’s more important has come in under time and under budget.

“This is a real testament to the people involved in this project and I would like to congratulate them on what has been achieved here today.

“This project is a real success story.”

Before the arrival of the four new aircraft, the gathered crowd was given an aerial demonstration by one of Amberley’s other F/A-18s.
