Australian Defence Force members will receive a pay increase of two percent each year, after the independent Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT) approved a new Government proposal.

The two percent increase, up from 1.5 per cent, is set for the remaining life of the 2014 Workplace Remuneration Arrangement (WRA).

The determination will take effect from 12 March 2015 and ensures ADF pay remains above the current annual inflation rate of 1.3 per cent.

The Assistant Minister for Defence, Stuart Robert, said the Government had listened to the concerns of the defence community, the veterans’ community and the wider Australian community and acted to seek an increase to the pay of ADF personnel.

“This latest pay increase acknowledges the Government’s high regard for the unique nature of military service and the demands that are placed on ADF personnel and their families,” Mr Robert said.

“Today’s decision provides certainty to ADF personnel and their families while also recognising the significant contribution ADF members make to our nation’s security.”
