Visibility and recognition matter. The mission of the Women in Defence Awards is to inspire young women to pursue careers in Defence, in STEM, or related fields - which they are more likely to do if they see other women in the area.
Diversity is critical to addressing the workforce shortage dragging on Australia's defence capability ambitions. A workforce that is artificially limited in size will subsequently put artificial limits on defence industry capability.

The award ceremony will take place at The National Arboretum Canberra on 25 October 2023.
