The US Marine Corps (USMC) will charter a 73 metre long Sea Transport Group-designed Stern Landing Vessel (SLV) from Sea Transpory Group's sister company, Sealease, for a period of three years.

Both companies are Australian owned and based on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Sea Transport Group has previously designed military vessels for Australia, Thailand and India.

The vessel, which is under construction at an undisclosed shipyard, is powered by four electrically driven screws. It will be delivered to the USMC in January 2025 and will be used for amphibious littoral training in Northern Australia,
Indonesia, and the Southwest Pacific.

The value of the charter hasn't been disclosed by either party.
