ASC, Australia’s submarine company, has renewed its supply chain partnership with MacTaggart Scott Australia (MTSA), the Australian subsidiary of a Scotland-based company supporting the manufacture of key systems in the naval defence industry.

“ASC are pleased to extend our supply chain partnership with MTSA who are an integral part of the Collins Enterprise,” ASC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Stuart Whiley said.

MTSA was established in 2011 to work with its main customer, ASC - Australia’s submarine builder and sustainer.

MTSA has changed its supply chain significantly since it was formed, and can now boast that it uses more than 80% local industry. This contract also helps us to further develop the research and development products to bring them to fruition. It enables MTSA to plan further ahead, and there are in excess of 70 companies that will benefit from this contract,” said MTSA Director Peter Richings.

“Despite our small size, MTSA has been conducting research and development with the Defence Material Technology Centre, Swinburne University, Defence Science and Technology Group and Laserbond, into advanced coatings to extend the life of various Collins Class components, as well as looking at lighter composite items while retaining the material properties critical to product quality and safety."
