Local stocking distributor Aero Defence has opened a new facility in Carrara, Queensland, for storage of bulk materials for the Australian aviation and defence industry.
With more than 1500 square metres of purpose-built inventory management infrastructure, the new warehouse is expected to reduce reliance on overseas suppliers and the time between order and delivery.
The warehouse is the fifth in Aero Defence’s operations housing more than 25,000 products locally, including consumables, hardware, interconnect, and OEM spares.
Aero Defence Managing Director Trenten Ralph said the warehouse build allows Aero Defence to provide shorter product delivery times and enhanced customer service.
“With the aftermath of COVID-19, we knew the way we conducted business had to change,” Ralph said.
“With increasing wait times on importing parts internationally becoming a burden on Australian aviation and defence businesses, there is a growing demand for storing stock in Australia.
“Creating a warehouse where we can store more products and reduce the reliance on overseas suppliers ensures our customers have a quick turn-around reducing downtime and keeping their aircraft and defence capabilities moving."
Aero Defence opened its doors in 2008 and is a distribution partner to major Australian operators, including the Australian Defence Force, commercial and regional airlines, and advanced manufacturers.
