Sonartech Atlas acquires Acoustic Technologies

In another recent SME merger, Sydney-based Sonartech Atlas has acquired fellow Sydney sonar specialist Acoustic Technologies. The deal was concluded in October.

"Acoustic Technologies will continue to provide the high levels of professional service and support that we have always been proud to offer," said managing director Dr dean Gillies.

Following the acquisition, Gillies has become a working director of Sonartech Atlas, which will continue to operate from the same premises in Sydney and Adelaide; Andrew Butters will continue to guide the future of the business as a unit of Sonartech Atlas.

Sonartech Atlas is majority-owned by German firm Atlas Elektrnik, which is in turn owned jointly by EADS and ThyssenKrupp Technologies (TKT).

"As a result of the ownership change we look forward to improved access to global export market opportunities for Acoustic technologies products made possible by the ownership links through Sonartech to Atlas Elektronik, EADS and TKT," Gillies said.
