Thales Australia recently showcased its naval engineering expertise with the simultaneous docking of three Royal Australian Navy vessels at Garden Island, Sydney.

A technical and logistic achievement, the ships were precisely placed in the dock with just a few metres to spare.

The ships included two Anzac class vessels; HMAS ANZAC (150) and PARRAMATTA (154), and one Adelaide class; HMAS MELBOURNE (05).

Collectively they span over 374 metres in length and have a combined weight of 11,300 tonnes.

Chris Lloyd, Thales Australia's Naval Division Vice President, said: "This is the first time in over 35 years three major ships have been dry-docked simultaneously in Australia.

"It demonstrates Thales's ability to successfully handle concurrent complex maintenance projects, therefore providing the RAN with increased capability at lower overall cost."
